The body is where we start, and this leads us out to connect with the spaces we move through and to trust the sensibilities that re-inform the body’s journey and ‘knowing’. This play of outward and inner experience feeds our ability to act in the moment, to be guided by our inner knowing, to be decisive yet remain playful in our choices.
Each day will include a warm up that builds into improvisational scores.
We will work together, share our ideas and aspirations and bring our learning of ourselves and each other into performance based improvisation. We will share feedback, challenge ourselves and investigate the art of choreographing in the moment.
The week is essentially a journey – our destination is one we’ll find, individually and collectively, when we get there.

Arts Award & Sports Leaders with The Barbican Theatre
Barbican Theatre is an Arts Award Centre and authorised to deliver Sports Leaders – we offer young people the chance to take part in national schemes that recognise young people’s development through the arts.
The primary aim of both qualifications is to treat young people as young artists, helping them to develop their own arts practice, to engage with the world of the arts and to share their skills through leadership projects.
Arts Award and Sports Leaders are national qualifications and accessible to any young person aged 11-24, they embrace all cultural interests and backgrounds and are a great addition to any CV or UCAS application.
There are three levels of Arts Award (Bronze, Silver, Gold); Sports Leaders have Levels 1 & 2. They can be entered at any level and participants can be absolute beginners or very skilled in their art form; by the time you have finished you will have gained a level three qualification (equivalent to 35 and 30 UCAS points respectively for Gold Arts Award and Sports Leaders 2).
Aims of the Arts Award at all levels are to:
Encourage young people to enjoy and take part in the arts, now and throughout their lives
Promote achievement in the arts among young people
Provide opportunities for collaborative work and leadership that will promote young people’s broader personal development
Help young people to find progression routes in the arts
Encourage new art forms, innovation and experimentation
Do you offer Dance GCSE or A Level?
Rambert, Britain's national dance company brings an electrifying evening of dance to Theatre Royal Plymouth with the samba-fuelled A Linha Curva, heart-breaking love story Transfigured Night and a brand new piece Flight, a story of migration, crossing borders and spaces.
Rambert is a compulsory area of study on both the new GCSE and AS/A Level Dance specifications being offered by the AQA exam board
A Linha Curva is a compulsory area of study as part of the Dance Anthology for the new GCSE Dance specification
For the new AS/A-Level Dance specification, students will research the work of the company from 1966 - 2002. This covers the important period in Rambert's history when the company made the transition from classical to contemporary dance
